Which languages can I use?

Turkish, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Russian. The interface, the sentences and the daily questions come in your language. The language follows your device's language. To change it, go to Settings > Kendime Söz > Language on your iPhone.

Do I need an account?

No. We don't ask for a name, email or password. You download the app and start using it right away.

Where do the sentences come from?

All of the sentences were written originally for this app. You can add your own too. The sentences have no horoscope, stars or "universe" language, the focus is secular and goal-oriented.

What can I do on Apple Watch?

Read the sentence of the day on your wrist, mark "I read it" with one tap, and see the dots of the last seven days and your streak. You can also add the sentence and your streak to your watch face as a complication. If no sentence has arrived, open the app on your phone once or tap "Refresh" on the watch.

How do I change the app's language?

The language follows your device's language. To change it, choose the language you want in Settings > Kendime Söz > Language on your iPhone. Sentences you wrote yourself and your journal are not translated, they stay as they are.

Daily use

Will I see the same sentence every day?

No. The sentence doesn't change during the day, and a new one arrives the next day. It is chosen from sentences you haven't read yet. If you pin a sentence you like, only the notification and widget always show it, while the Today screen still shows a new sentence each day.

What does the "I read it" button do?

It marks that you read the day's sentence. Your streak and the yearly dial in the Track tab move forward with this button. Think of it as a small mark of the day rather than a required task.

If I miss a day, does my streak break?

One missed day a week doesn't break your streak. The goal isn't a perfect chain but a steady and gentle habit.

Why does the Track dial say "day 1"?

Your journey is counted from the day you started using the app. When a 365-day cycle is complete, the second year begins.

What is the one step of the day?

A place to turn the sentence of the day into a small action. You write a single step for today (up to 100 characters) and mark it when you do it. If you don't know what to write, pick one of the suggestions under "Ideas".

What is an if-then plan?

A plan in the form "If this happens, I do that." For example "If my attention drifts, I return to a single task." It is a simple way to link your intention to a concrete behavior. You write them in "My if-then plans" in Profile, and can be reminded every day if you like. Your plans also enter the pool for the sentence of the day.

Can I add my own sentences?

Yes. In Profile > My sentences and pinned sentence, add one with "New sentence". If "Include my own sentences" is on, they come up a little more often than the others.

Can I choose which topics the sentences come from?

Yes. From the settings icon at the top right of the Today screen, or from Profile > Sentence preferences, you can turn the 9 topics and 4 sentence types on and off. The change applies from tomorrow, today's sentence doesn't change.

Manifesto and journal

What can I write in my manifesto?

Your values (up to 12), your goals (up to 10) and a one-sentence promise to yourself, and then you sign it with your finger. You can share the document as a PDF or an image.

What is the monthly check-in?

A short review that lets you take a look at your goals each month. For each goal you choose the option closest to you, and write a note if you like. There are no right or wrong answers. You see earlier months under "History".

Who can see what I write in my journal?

Only you. The journal stays on your device and isn't sent to us or anywhere else. If iCloud sync is on, it syncs to the devices in your own Apple account, and we can't access it.

I forgot to write yesterday's page, can I add it?

Yes. On the journal page, use "Change date" to move the page to another day.

Notifications, widget and sharing

Notifications aren't arriving, what should I do?

First make sure notifications are allowed in iPhone Settings > Notifications > Kendime Söz. Then check in the app, under Profile > Reminder, that "Remind me every day" is on and the time is right. If a Focus mode or Do Not Disturb is on, notifications may be silenced.

How do I add the widget?

Long-press an empty spot on the Home Screen, tap the "+" at the top left and choose Kendime Söz. There are small and medium sizes. You can also add a rectangular or inline widget to the Lock Screen. The widget shows either a new sentence each day or the sentence you pinned, which you choose in Profile.

What can I do with Siri and Shortcuts?

There are three ready shortcuts: say the sentence of the day, count today as read, and write today's step. You can tell Siri "Kendime Söz sentence of the day" or find them in the Shortcuts app.

How do the share cards work?

Sentences, the manifesto and the yearly dial can be shared. There are three card styles: Paper, Ink and Dial. The card is prepared in story size, and can be sent straight to Instagram Stories, saved to Photos or shared with another app.

Does saving to Photos read my library?

No. Only permission to add is requested to save the card, the photos in your library are not read.

Data, privacy and devices

Where is my data stored?

On your device. If your iCloud account is on, it syncs between your own devices. Your data lives only in your Apple account, it doesn't go to our servers and we can't access it. Details are in the privacy policy.

What happens to my data if I change phones?

If you are signed in with the same Apple account on the new device and iCloud is on, your data arrives within a few minutes. You can also export and back up your data from Profile.

Why isn't it syncing between my two devices?

Both devices must be signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID, and iCloud must have enough space. The first sync can take a few minutes. Closing and reopening the app may help. If there is still a problem, write to us.

Can I lock the app with Face ID?

Yes. In Profile > Data and security, turn on "Lock with Face ID". If the device has no Face ID, the device passcode is used. The lock is specific to that device.

How do I export or delete my data?

In Profile > Data and security, "Export my data (JSON)" writes everything to a readable file. "Delete all my data" deletes everything permanently and can't be undone. If iCloud sync is on, the deletion carries over to your other devices too.

Is any data collected, are there ads?

No. There are no ads, analytics or tracking tools in the app. We don't collect your personal data and we don't send it to our servers.
